Today saw the 8th Netwalk Your Network and each month the meeting goes from strength to strength!
Run by Ali Wheeler of Feelgood and me, Judith Kenyon from JayKay Events, this healthy networking group gets you out of the office, enjoying the fresh air while still working on your business. And even better, it is full of fun with lots of laughs that get you feeling invigorated and energised.
With Storm Ophelia hitting our shores earlier this week, there was a thought that Netwalk might have to be cancelled, but we had another lovely day with 16 businesses networking.
After a bracing walk around the lake at Delamere Forest, Chris Illingworth from FDR Law was our guest speaker. Chris is a solicitor specialising in conveyancing and fully understands the worry, stress and frustration buying and selling houses can cause and does his level best to keep it all to a minimum for you... and as he is currently in the process of a personal conveyancing deal he can fully relate to his clients' feelings!
The main feedback Ali & I get from attendees is that not only do they enjoy escaping the office but that the encouragement to move between others during the walk means that everyone gets good constructive conversations with the rest of the group as we all walk and talk our businesses. And because we are walking so no one can make notes, we all have to listen that bit harder to each other.
During the walk we stop every so often and take it in turns to introduce our business to the group. Everyone is also given tips on mindfulness and well-being and how to get the most from their networking.
I've already mentioned about how this group works for people's well-being (laughing, walking, getting fresh air) but the main tip I gave to members today was about how networking can work for you. A perfect example is one of our regular attendees is Paul Kyte from PK Photography & Multimedia. A few months ago he made us a video of our Netwalk to help us publicise all that is good about it...
And that is what networking is about – building relationships & trust to encourage working together.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday 15 November at Delamere Forest and costs just £15 to attend, which includes tea & coffee, an artisan picnic lunch plus a guest speaker.
